About US
Tay River Algonquian Community (TRAC) is a locally rooted cultural and educational organization dedicated to creating spaces for learning, gathering, and meaningful connection. Grounded in respect for the land and the knowledge of those who steward it, we support cultural sharing, education, and community engagement.
We offer educational programs, community events, facility rentals, and Native-made artisanal handcrafts, including our premium maple syrup.
Our centre focuses on Indigenous workshops, guided nature walks, and experiences that encourage meaningful engagement with the natural world. Through land-based learning, we support opportunities for people of all backgrounds to deepen their understanding of Indigenous perspectives, environmental stewardship, and community responsibility.
Indigenous teachings across Canada are diverse, deeply connected to the land, and passed down through generations. These teachings center on principles of respect, reciprocity, and interconnection with nature. Our work is guided by foundational values such as the Seven Grandfather Teachings, Wisdom, Love, Respect, Bravery, Honesty, Humility, and Truth, as well as the Four R’s, Respect, Relevance, Reciprocity, and Responsibility. Together, these teachings promote balance, harmony, and sustainable living for future generations.
Tay River Algonquian Community strives to bring the knowledge and cultural richness of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples into one welcoming and respectful space. We are committed to celebrating the resilience, strength, and beauty of Indigenous communities while creating opportunities for shared learning and cultural appreciation.

Our Mission
At Tay River Algonquian Community, our mission is to provide a welcoming space for learning, sharing, and celebrating Indigenous knowledge and traditions, while promoting environmental stewardship and sustainable living.
The Gitchie Manitou has taught us that we are one with the land; therefore, we must:
-
Leave the land we know to be a better place than we found it.
-
Learn to be better, knowledgeable stewards of the land we know.
-
Be ready to teach, promote, respect, and enjoy our Indigenous heritage.
Indigenous teachings are rooted in wisdom, love, respect, bravery, honesty, humility, and truth, promoting harmony and sustainable living.
